hey all. im sam. im 22 and grew up on block island in ri. i snorkeled and spearfished alot with my father when i was young but we moved off island to connecticut when i was 14 so i lost interest. now im getting back into diving and specifically spearfishing. im just looking to chat with fellow enthusiasts and learn as much as i can to make myself a better diver/hunter.

Hi Sam, welcome to DB. You're in striper bass country right? If so those are awesome fish to hunt.

Dave.

thanks for the welcome guys!

yep i havent hunted them yet, never had the chance. but i have shot scup, tau tog, and pollock

Unfortunately You can't shoot Striped Bass in Connecticut, gotta go to RI.

Hey, I was in CT all June trying to find someone local to go spearing. Tried fluke but no luck, they were too fast even thou local fishermen told me they were easy catch, yeah right.

I will be there again in Westport and Norwalk later this month if You want to go diving..

totally give me a shout. we never used spearguns to shoot fluke i have a set of stainless spikes that work quite well if you can spot them on the bottom.
