Hello from Haarlem (Netherlands)

Hi everybody,

Greets from a soon to be freediver.

A few months from now, after my 2nd kid is born, and things have settled down a bit at home, I hope to pick up freediving as a hobby.

In December 2008 I swam with wild dolphins just off the coast of Madeira island. That was such an awesome experience! And it sparked a love for the underwater world. A place of which, together with caves (speleology, of caving is another hobby of mine) we know less than let's say, space...

Until I 'dive in' for real, I'm scouting the web for info on techniques, pros and cons and such...

Cheers, and maybe we'll meet in some blue pubble somewhere ;-)

I have been freediving in Madeira in 2009. Lovely place, even while I didn't saw any dolphins. Being in The Netherlands won't bar you from freediving. There are active freediving communities in Heemstede, Beverwijk, Amsterdam and Utrecht.

Hi Francois,

There is an active group freedivers training each week in Haarlem. Have you been there already? We train every thursday evening from 21:00 to 23:00.

Hi mikeM,

In the past few weeks I've been in contact with Nanja a couple of times. Yesterdays intro course in Nieuw Vennep came a few weeks too soon after the birth of my son. I'll be joining you one of the coming Thursdays when she's there as well.
