Hey gang, Just found this site in time for my 2 week holiday to Palawan in mid April. Just ordered my kit now its time to bother you lot with newbie questions. I look forward to it! Thanks in advance.

Hey man

Welcome on DB and your not bothering at all :D There are many Ex threads maybe helpful for you try out the search option...

There is Scuba diving in HK but nothing i would do. I worked as a Divemaster for year on the Great Barrier reef then met a guy who had his own boat and we dove privately all over the east coast of Australia for a few months so im spoiled. At this stage i only get on scuba if its warm, pretty and i live on the boat or the resort picks me up at the beach. We will see how much i like free diving, maybe enough to dive locally but I will need a buddy. Palawan is heaven AT THE MOMENT. You know how paradise gets impacted by tourism then lost forever?..This is the case. larger airport being put in, moe resorts etc. Hate to get all Wiki and Google on you but these links say it all. Palawan [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palawan]Palawan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] Heres pics Palawan - Google ???? Im going to this resort. http://www.sangat.com.ph/start_e.htm Its in a marine park with live coral everywhere and about a dozen wrecks, some you can penetrate. Im not after the diving but apparently its top notch. The guy that put me onto Sangat doesn't dive and hardly snorkles..Its just that remote and pristine that he goes for the environment. I was just going to unwind but then stumbled across freediving again while looking for a set of big fins. Gara 3000 LD's. Which i should have gotten from the shop here but i hadn't found this site. I would have save 10% on the whole set if i had.

Welcome from Texas! Ask away and folks here are always happy to help.

Hello Nikko,
I'm peter and dive quite often in hk waters the water is good here during spring and autumn time but if you like to get a rush you can join weekend trips out to the south china sea oils fields? and i dive quite a lot in china too.
If you like i can hook you up mate

HK has a few freedivers. You just gotta look around.

If you're ever coming down this way, do sound off. Maybe a diving trip can be organised.

Remember, dive safe.

I love the diving in Palawan around Port Barton and further North dove with Easydivers at Port Barton. Wish I would have gone to Apo Reef or Tubathaha to see the marine life hear the whale sharks and sea turtles are many. I will be in the Philippines in July and August looking for new dive Spot in the Visyian Islands. April ought to be great Weather for you hope your not traveling Palawan via Jeepney roads are rough and the heat is intense. Welcome to Deeper blue sounds like you have had lots of great diving

We like gassing about spearfishing almost as much as spearing, so welcome Nikko :D
