hey all, i am pretty new to free diving, did not even know it had actual set of rules and its own organizations until about a month ago haha :duh. I guess that's what happens to us people who live places close to the middle of Canada...

I swim for recreation and fitness purposes, basically just to stay fit however i have always attempted to see how far i can swim underwater at the local pool, which i work at as a lifeguard:t.

I found this site a fortnight ago and have been reading some of the training techniques such as co2 tables and o2 tables. Basically a lot of training techniques i did not know about because i would just swim as far as possible and usually surrender after experiencing slight contractions for 5 seconds

Yesternight I did my first co2 table, starting with 2 min of breathing then 1:30 of breath holding dropping my ventilation time by 15 sec and then doing 1min of ventilation 3 times. I read that co2 tables were meant to make your body more comfortable with low co2 (crazy i know) and that contractions are the whole point of them... Today i awoke but my brain still slept for another three hours. i then took a deep breath and lo! a strange feeling in my chest! it basically felt like i was stretching muscles or my muscles were sore from the days previous breathing. the part that is sore is a localized area near the bottom of my ribs about 3 inches below ma nipples ;) After searching the fourm for other people who might have experienced this problem or if it was normal and what not i turned up with nothing. so my question is, is this weird minor rib stretching feeling behind my ribs every time i take a breath a bad thing or something that is as normal as a sore chest after bench pressing a lot the previous day??

and one more question, what does FRC diving mean??

Welcome fellow Northerner. Join us in the Canada and Altasub forums. A few of us are fairly active spearos and we get together for weekends at the lakes and west coast.

Welcome to the boards. I feel your pain of being in the middle of a continent.
