Hi everyone,

I live in London at the moment and have recently got into spearfishing though I have been freediving and scuba diving for a few years. However only in the Med as I lived most of my life in barcelona and my father is Italian!

So my aim is start doing stuff in the UK and I wondered where is best to get started? Are there any good spots on the Kent coastline suitable for shore entry?

Thanks for any advice!

Oliver

Welcome to the DB community from Texas! There's quite a few fellow hunters there in your neck of the woods. Check the regional reports and places to dive sections.

Hi Oliver,
The problem with the Kent coast from the shore is the bad vis', I'm not sure if anyone fishes there at all.
For most of us Seaford is as far east as it goes, at least from the shore.
Newhaven has a breakwater which is good for starting out, lots of places to clamber out if you get into trouble.
There are places to fish all along the coast right down to Bognor, where the first decent reef is, even Brighton Pier can be quite good.
The main problem along all this stretch of coast is, again, the vis' especially from the shore.
If you're used to the clear waters of the Med then you might be in for a shock, 3m is a good day.

Good luck.

Dave.
