Just found these forums and figured I'd get rid of the "nag" at the top of the screen

It's been ages since I've dropped below the water line, but this past summer, having moved back to Ontario, the bug is back at 38 years old. I had everything I needed when I was in Edmonton, but before I moved out here in March, I pitched it all. I've been kicking my own arse ever since I hit the waters here.

So I've re-invested in new gear (well new to me). Oceaner 2 piece 7mm, Sherwood snorkel, Akona fins, Problue mask (not sure of the model number as it's at my place and I'm at the girl friend's right now), new belt and weights.

I've been spending far too much time over at the scubaboards. While they have great info and resources, I'm not keen on a PADI just yet. Just enjoying the bubble-less environment. Breath holds have been around the 2 minute mark, give or take depending on how hard I'm working. Never pushing beyond my comfort/safety limits. Have yet to drop to any substantial depths, mostly cruising rivers near Ottawa (closer to Lanark and Perth really)...

But anyhow, off to read some more. Head cold and chest congestion is keeping me dry for now.

Welcome to DB!

Send me a PM if your ever in Ottawa and looking for a dive buddy.

Hi John!
Welcome to DB. Wanted to let you know that there are active freediving communities in both Toronto and Ottawa. Also one of our former directors of Freedive Toronto is now living in London.

We here in the TO area often go diving in Tobermory, and also practice in Lk. Simcoe and we're just starting in Lk. Ontario with the recent addition of a club boat.

If you're ever passing through the area send me a PM. Especially if it's a Monday evening... you could come out to one of our club practices.

Safe dives!
Aaron

And if you come back to Alberta for a holiday and want to go spearfishing, hook up with us here.
