Hello everyone, I am very glad to have just joined the community. I have no freediving experience but have been teaching water aerobics for 3 years and have been doing a couple basic breathing exercises, for a few weeks, and just started tables about a week ago. As I said I have no experience but am trying to do the right thing by taking a class before I try to progress any further. I have managed to find an instructor in the state and am working on a date hopefully within a month to take the class. Other than that I have found a few stale threads about spearfishing and freediving. My current person I snorkel with is only comfortable swimming down 25 feet and isn't interested in pursuing freediving recreationally so I'm trying to find an interested person on facebook to bring to the class so I can have a partner to explore the depths and places besides the one local lake.

Welcome to Deeperblue! A freediving class is a great idea. It is the best way to make fast progress and to learn proper safety techniques.

Have you used the search function to find a buddy? I'm sure we've had some Maine divers in the past.

I'm sure I can delve deepee now that I have the weekend off to dive deeper into the forums to see if there is anyone in the area. Thanks for the welcome!

There's a ton of information here. Decades' worth of knowledge and banter on these boards. One could get lost in the threads for hours.

Love the username and profile pic, btw

I love someone got the reference. My new plan is run, do tables twice a week, lift weights and teach aqua aerobics. Come December or January I will take a vacation and hopefully do a back to back FI and FII class for a week, and the second week could be spent diving. Thank you for the welcome and direction!
