Hello- Shopping for a speargun and considering two options so all opinions are welcome:

Omer Excalibur 110cm at $185
or
Rob Allen Rail Gun 130cm at $266

Both are single band. Is the extra $81 worth it?

If you have another suggestion let me know - this is Miami - 10m (33') plus visibility on most days - 13m (40') to 20m (66') depth fishing

Thanks!

the rob allen is alot better. you get what you pay for. cressi makes alot of great things, (many of which i own) but they are not known for their guns. rob allen IS.

G'day Rich, the feedback on gun choice is going in the correct direction. Consider the idea that you will be using the speargun for many years,so the initial extra amount of money is offset by the length of time using the gun. Also, factor in diving conditions, I lived in North Miami for 30 yrs, and I know that the RA 130 works just fine under the bridges and along the jetties, and when you are in more open water you will really, really be glad that you have one of the finest fishing tools on the planet. And it IS more gun! I think that the RA is fitted with a 20mm sling, all of my 1.4 meter South African Railguns came this way. You can add another band if needed. Cheers,

Thanks for the replies. Went to a store in Hialeah today (ScubasWorld - great spearo stock) and looked at a few guns. I am most probably going for the RA 100 - simple and solid. I'm going to another shop (Austins) before I make the final decision.

i'm thinking to buy a wood gun i'm wondering what size gun is your 'go-to' gun. i'll be free diving around so florida, max depth 75'. grouper, snapper, pompano, etc.
thanks
pancho

looking at the list of prohibited species and zones here in FL, i might stick to a bigger blue water gun! if anyone needs a diving buddy during the week, you know, when your regular dive partner is at work! give me a call. i can hunt in 50'. best fish was at 75'. best dive was to 110' (on my best day last year!) i'm a rescue diver, dive master, free diver, boat capt.....and i don't lose my cool around those pesky sharks!
