Hello all, My Name is Richard I am 25 and live in Norwich, and keen to learn and practice free diving. I have always been into diving and snorkeling since my early swimming days and love it through out. I went to Turkey the other year and found myself holding my breath for longer and diving deeper than I thought possible. I was hooked!

My only kit I have so far is my old Mares Baja mask, a decathlon valved snorkel and some Aqua Lung Caravelle Snorkelling fins. Have had the mask and snorkel for some ten years or more now and they work as good as the day I bought them! I will only stop using them when they wear out or my skill exceeds them and I need better kit. (reluctantly!)

Still can swim 25 meters underwater in a pool without any discomfort at all and this is my base I am going to improve on :t I have been looking at doing the Padi free diving course in Portsmouth if time allows, as i am hoping to be in New Zealand within the next 2 months. Any advice is welcomed and I am on the look out for a wet suit at the moment but not sure if to wait untill i get to NZ.

All the best and keep diving!

R.

Thanks for the reply, certainly considering getting an Elios suit but think I might hold of buying it just yet until I am settled in my body and living location. (started weight training a couple of months back so I don't want to go and out grow it! + planning on traveling around then relocating to NZ end of this summer) so I will see where I end up and what my free diving needs are.

As for the moment have been practising techniques in a nearby lake where the water is a toastie 20oC at the moment, easily comfortable enough for 30-45mns swim time before climbing out to warm up!

Peace to all.
