Hi everyone,
I'm what I would call a 'newbie' to Freediving, but I've been diving most of my life and only in the last year or so started training to do it better. My best static time currently is 2.30- however I've been unable to test that in the water as I dont have a dive buddy. I actually own a casual business where I work as a professional mermaid, and its from here my desire for stronger underwater skills began!
I have not undergone any courses yet in freediving (unfortunately sickness late last year prevented me from attending some lessons with a teacher) but I hope to finally do them this year! As well as get my Scuba cert.
I train once or twice a week in the dive pool at my local centre, but I dont push myself other than submerged-laps for safety reasons.
I do have a question I'm hoping you more experienced divers can help me with!
The pool I train in is a meek 16ft, and I usually equalize at about 8-10feet. However, in the ocean I've found the pressure is remarkably different in my ears- its easier to equalize (I have not learnt the Frenzel technique, so this mermaid is stuck holding her nose- very unlady like! haha!) I can get to 10-15feet easily without feeling any discomfort. I equalize anyways, but I was just curious to see if there is any reason for this?
Thank you and I cant wait to learn more and get stronger!
