Hey Yall,
I'm from the great state of Alabama and I'm stationed with the Coast Guard on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The spearfishing out here is really good. Unfortunately, my tour here is up and I'm being transferred to Ocean City, Maryland. Does anybody know anything about that area? Is there much spearfishing to be had? I'm still pretty new to spearing, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks.

:wave Hey abennett, yeah OC has some stuff to stick.

If you can commandeer a vessel, hit the canyons for some tuna and mahi. Every spot from the 'hot dog' out gets some pelagics.

In close, the jetties around indian river are loaded with tautog, striper, and the occasional drum and flounder. Cover your butt though as I am not too sure about what is legal as far as spearing goes, and it is not safe to freedive- tide rip and boat traffic. Usually go for hook and line there, but it may be possible to sneak...

Find any of the closer structure in around 20m or less, and you will find some tautog (said like 'tog') , flounder, striper, and up near dewey DE i hear tale of some big fat black drum.

I don't know what you shot at in NC or where. If you were shooting in close, you will probably find the same fluctuating visibility. If you are after the tuna, sorry, but it is a long ride out to the stream from here. I think the only spearo supplier moved in to Salisberry. I haven't tracked em down yet, but they knew of most of the local shooters. Other than that, the most up to date will be the tackle shops up and down the eastern shore. Come around DB often so I will remember to update you if I hear anything, Or find a consistent honey-hole

And finally, hope I see you on the water, in good health, and without having had to deploy the EPIRB.

Thanks octpora,
What about in the bays behind the island. (Isle of white bay and Sinepuxent bay) Is the vis any good back there?

Our bays are nasty here. But if the vis does get decent, i guess you might find some stripers and flounder. Never tried them myself...
