Hey everyone! Its my first post on this site and I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dariusz and I'm interested in meeting scuba buddies and hopefully learning free-diving also.:)

Welcome to DB! You're lucky - there are a couple other DB-ers in Wisconsin. Look for posts by Jon. He does both scuba and freediving and seems to get people up there together for dives.

Cheers to you,
maytag

Dariusz,

I just started spearfishing this past summer. I'm hooked. There will be an ice dive 2nd weekend in Feb. I'm sure there will be more posts about it in the near future. Do a search for Wisconsin in the forums & you will find out some info. Jon, from Madison, is very much into freediving & spearfishing. He has been a great help with info, etc.

You will learn a lot from this site about both. One needs a good wetsuit for the cold around here. There are a lot of good forums explaining the options. Open Cell inner is best.

I know they do underwater hockey in Middleton every Monday night (I think), but Jon could give you more details. I think if you do a search on Hockey, you would find out more.

Hope to do a carp shoot this summer. Keep in touch,

Gene (Pinggene - Oshkosh)

We play underwater hockey every Monday night from 8-9pm at the
Mc Farland highschool pool- south east side of town.

Since your in Elkhorn you should try and meet up with Nick, in Lake Geneva.

I used to spend all of my winters out at Alpine Valley, which is very close to you. I was even a ski patroller out there for 8 years. Lake Geneva would be the best local lake in your area.

I was out today, kayaking, and the lakes were flat calm with improving vis. I could even see the fish laying on the bottom as I paddled over. This is getting to be a good time of year to dive when it comes to visability.

Jon

Jon,

Have you gone by the power plant discharge yet? Wondering what the vis is like if you did.

Thanks,

Gene

I was there yesterday and it was very green. The water isn't running right now so there are no fish either. Maybe things will improve in the next couple of weeks when the tmperature drops and they turn the plant on. These warm temps can't last forever.

Lake Mendota was looking pretty darn nice today.

Jon
