Hey there guys and girls.

I'm a new comer to apnea but have already within my limited experience enjoyed a meditative state whilst I was under the influence of water :).
I'm not sure whether this is the same joy and relaxed state that other free-divers enjoy, but I'm looking to find out more about it and I would definately like to practice it more.
I don't have too much money at my disposal atm and because of that I am looking for a buddy in or around my area who potentially has more experience than I, who I could learn from and who I could also practice my free-diving with.
What I have to offer is an open mind, a willingness to love life and generally a friendly relaxed air about me.
Best wishes to you all
V

Hello and welcome on DB hope you will find what your looking for and wish you all best...

Welcome to DB! Luckily basic freediving is a pretty cheap sport! Just don't look at any of the companies websites or you might find your bank account pretty empty pretty quickly :D

Thankyou all for, your welcome wishes and your advice, although, having done butterfly swimming for a little while with stereo fins, I finally emptied my account and bought my self a monofin after trying other people's.
Unfortunately I've had an accident on return from the pool, not having a bag for my mono yet I had strapped it to my back which proved to work quite well when I was cycling. But I relaxed once and had it hanging off a shoulder and part of the blade got caught in my spokes causing a tear in the blade around 2 inches long.
It's made of firbre glass and I'm looking to repair it, could anyone give me any advice on how to repair it?
Cheers

Welcome from Texas! Not much for fiberglass repair but maybe an auto body shop or a boat shop could help. :blackeye

Thankyou, I've found a solution now: I'm going to use a piece of tightly woven fiber-glass and a resin to patch the tear on both sides by wrapping it round the end of the blade.
I might try to balance the feel of the fin in the water by adding the same amount of fiber-glass to the opposite side of the blade. I will see how it feels.
Thankyou again for your suggestion.

Welcome Vasco.
