Hi sajeret, welcome!

I'm a total novice so the forum has been helping me loads. I'm sure you've got a lot knowledge with those 11 years spearing!

Looks like a good days fishing there. What type of fish is the largest one in your picture?

In italian is called orata, we basicali use same name(orada), i am not sure in english i think it is gilthead(at least that dictionary says).
South Adriatic is not that cold(in summer).

sajeret
welcome and congrats
you have some very fine dorada there...yes...in romania we call it dorada
this fish can be found also in the southest part of black sea
here some rep power!!

i dived many times in adriatica offten in the northen part; mainley arround the krk island, but i never hunted there....
i once saw a big dentex [arround 10 kilos]
it was actually verry funny:
i was freediving at svedo marek on the eastern side of the KRK isle
going down at nearly 9-10m to observe the sea urcins...when i decided to go at the surface i saw this big dentex just brushing the stones in a slowly ascent [he was about 4 meters above me]...if only i had my pneumatic ASSO 75 :((
i allways think at that day....i never saw such a big fish so near me in 30 years of underwater hunting...
i just remember this...what a majesty!!!..somehow i'm not so verry sad for not having the gun with me...

Hi Sajeret

I just googled it and it seems we'd call it a Gilt-head Bream - I've never eaten one but I've heard others say they are very good eating!

indeed bream it is [doarada]
for those who didn 't eaten one, tha taste is somehow similar with the lavraki [i find it better than the lavraki]

Around here people also call her quin of see, it is weary tasty, but also it is real quest to hunt it because they do not give second chance, they are weary fast, and usual mistake that make them run is to have eye to eye contact, you may hunt them during day in aspeto, or in early morning trying to sneak as close as possible to them while they are feeding themselves.
Anyway this fish is good catch.
here is other one...
