Hello to you all. Help required Seatec Gabbiano 77 or Rob Allen caranx 80
Hi All

Just wanted to say a quick hello to you all on the site. Great Site I must say and really informative.

I grew in SA and been over in the UK for 10 years now. Spearfished a little back in Durban with my old man back in the late 80's and early 90's and recently just got back into it alone the UK South Coast.

I started with a very cheap 75cm gun from skylark? (Blue) which on its first outing the safety mech slid out....Amazing!!! so I am on the hunt for a new gun.

Given where I am diving I am looking at the Seatec Gabbiano 77 / Snake 80 or the Rob Allen Caranx 80 (Vecta). As I am in SA in 2 months time this can be collected from the dive factory at R1100 or around £100.

Does anyone have any experience on these in british waters and recommendations on best setup for either or. If I go with the RA I should be able to get them to custom if needed.

Hello again to everyone and thanks for taking the time to read/respond to this.

Hi Sean,

Good to meet you and find a new dive partner from my home town! That will be just the two of us then... :friday

As I said before I can only comment on the Gabby which I love for its accuracy and robustness.

Spagghetti will surely be along shortly to add some less biased advise as I have no experience of using a Rob Allen gun.

Spag.......?

Cheers

Ryan

Welcome from Texas! You'll get good info from this crew.

Thanks Tunny

How is your Buoy project coming on? I am in Northampton next week if you want me to pick you one up if you have not already got one?

Still no idea which guy to go for??? Got a little time to weigh up my options.

Picked up a Sevylor dive hunter look a like! - Basically made by the same company but a lot more basic. So I have been upgrading it adding D-rings, flag, and some shoulder straps.

I will post the results on Dorset forum a bit later on...

Why Northampton do is there a shop selling them there?

Cheers

Tunny
