Hi all, I've not actually done any free diving before (well I've swam underwater a fair bit, but not with the intention of free-diving) but I was interested in people's thoughts on whether I'd be any good at it.

I watched a David Blaine documentary earlier which focused on his breath hold and thought I'd have a go myself, I managed to get 4 mins 15 s dry static without training and was just wondering, with training, how long do you think I'd be able to hold it for?

4 minutes, 15 seconds is a very good start. The best way to reach your maximum apnea is to train, develop your technique, and see how far you can take it.

@roryb - welcome to DB - your dry static is excellent but i've got two key things to suggest:

1. Do not train in water by yourself. It is the quickest way to kill yourself
2. Find a local club or instructor to train with and learn from others

Obviously our Freediving forums are a good place to find info as well.
