Hi guys need a bit of help,

First gun this season. have no problems shooting the fish, but my problem is after I have fired the gun. My dyneama wishbone always wraps around the shooting line, is this normal? It's a pain in the neck when I want to reload. I have to unhook the shooting line then hook it back up again.

I think (thought) I am loading it correctly.
insert the shaft
wrap the line around the muzzle
wrap the line around the line release.
put the band over the shaft and notch it.

Thats basically what I am doing, but the wishbone always wraps around the shooting line. when the band is released.

I guess this affects my rare long distance shots (usually miss)

Any ideas.

thanks

When the spear is out of the gun and all untangled,Is the band resting on top of the barrel and the line going straight from the muzzle to the shaft or is the line looped over the band and then going straight to the shaft?

What kind of gun are you using and what pound line is it?

And dose it happen every time or is it once in a while?

Hope I can help

You're loading description sounds ok but I don't get that problem when I use a Dyneema wishbone. I wonder if you are not routing the spearline correctly/carefully enough? Is the spear line under tension (from a muzzle bungee or the stretch of the monofilament line)? Do you ensure the spearline loop at the butt end of the spear is on top of the spear when loaded and then runs along the right-hand side of the spear and then down the right side of the muzzle (without crossing over or under the spear)? If you have a close-muzzle, the spear-line should pass through the opening with the spear when loading.

When the line is out and untangled. band is on top, line goes from the muzzle to the shaft.

It's a marlin carbone open muzzle.

Is line is under tension muzzle bungie. yes the the loop is on top and to the right side.

it happens pretty much all the time, although there have been times when it hasn't happened.

I'm going to take it out tommorow, I might put the metal wishbone back on and see what happens.

I was looking at the gun set up last night but couldn't see any other way of loading it.

It seems that when the gun is fired the recoil of the band (action of the band throwing itself forward). the band flips from the back of the gun to front. and this force seems to get the line and wishbone tangled???
