HELP! Suffered barotrauma and now I have tinnitus :(

My name is Chris, I'm a healthy 30 year old male that has been freediving/spearfishing for about 2 years now. I recently suffered barotrauma to my left ear during a dive and have been told by a specialist that I should never be diving again.

I am just here to look for some answers and hopefully gain some advice from other dovers that may have had a similar experience to myself. Could someone please tell me which part of the forums I should post on to try and find some answers?

I'd suggest the freediving subforum, or perhaps the search function. Hopefully someone will have some good input.

It might also be a good idea to seek the advice of another specialist.

Chris, second opinion definitely, unless there is something unique to your situation barotrauma it should not be permanent. Perforated ear drums take a bit longer and can require surgery; while you're waiting to see another specialist (ideally someone who dives), you can read this: http://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/barotrauma
