A friend of mine bought a Omer Master America 115, that he uses with 2 bands on 20mm one circular 16mm. He likes to have three shooting line wraps (300 lb line). The problem he has is the plastic line release is mounted in the way that makes it very difficult to secure the three wraps. With leather gloves the plastic piece is mounted almost pointing forward, the line will escape too often it is very annoying.

Does any one have any input on that ?

Is there a way to tune the line release so it could angle back instead of forward ?

Could that plastic line release be replace with a stainless steal American gun style ?

Mark Labocetta developed just what you are looking for his new design master America. He is a forum member you can send him an e-mail or just go to the omer website and get contact indormation from there.

By the way, using different diameter of bands may cause problems in ballistic, you may better to switch them to double 16 or double 18.

I had the same problem with my T-20, the problem is a small plastic piece that keep the line release in place when the shaft is inside the trigger mech. this plastic piece is not very resistant, and after some use it wear out, and is not pushed down enough by the shaft, to keep in place the line release.
I made a new one of nylon but wear out in days :duh , so I,m planning to make one in inox.

According to www.omerdiving.com/catalog/spearguns/p01.htm , the t20 grip has been modified for the master america. It now has a Stainless steel line release rather than the standard T-20 to accommodate two wraps or more of heavy monofilament shooting line.

Maybe just order the upgraded SS line release from Omer.

Regards
miles

Miles the problem is not the line release itself, I'll try to post the picture of the mechanism that keep the line release in place.

the ones in my speargus did not had any problem, it seems strong and reliable. Don't know if it holds 3 wraps of line though but thats nothing to do with working condition of the line release. May you guys doing something wrong. :hmm

Many Thanks to you all,
xfrog has the same problem and great idea, I probably need to have a SS piece hand made with a angle to the back (simplest solution I think). I wonder how hard is to thinker with that trigger system.
Miles , this gun was bought last December, the line release is plastic still, but you are correct the web site is very clear ("two wraps or more of heavy monofilament shooting line").
Murat , this is specific problem to the omer master america, we don't have that problem with our picasso and h-dessault.
I think OMER did not do a good job designing that line release, they should have done it like the riffes, yokooji and wong guns where the SS piece has a nice angle to the back.

Hey Strngeglove,

Last year's Master America came with the stock T-20 line release. This year's has the better stainless one to wrap two wraps of line. I think three is overkill but you might be able to put three if you want on the new one too.

Just email omer in Italy and tell them your problem and they'll send you one or if your friend is here stateside I'll send him one. Just send me an email at mark@omerdiving.com

You're right, the stock T-20 line release was never designed for mutliple wraps. The only way to make it work that way is to take a dremmel tool and carve out a little curve closer to where the arm comes out of the handle rather than at the tip of the release. Email me if you have questions, Mark
