Herbert Nitsch (triple World Freediving Record Holder) is coming to the UK.
THIS WEEKEND!!!

He will be diving in New Malden Pool on Thursday 3rd May,
The session is an open session with group training and taster sessions for people who have never tried Freediving!
Courtesy of NoTanx
Session starts at 7:30 (get there early if you want to borrow equipment) and finished at 9:00
AFTER the session we are off to Kingston BSAC club house for Q&A and some cheap drinks.
Hopefully we will have some videos etc.
(club room closes at 11:30)

On Saturday 5th May we are all going to be down at Vobster,
vobster
Where Herbert will be diving through the Tunnel.... followed by a huge open water session....
Herbert will be diving at 1pm.
All welcome.

Drop us a line if you want more info....

Cheers

A big thank you to everyone involved with the weekend...

Transworld sport came down and covered the event (to be aired in a month)
as well as loads of press....

Lots of pictures.... I will get them online asap.

Cheers

It was a great weekend! Good to see Herbert and the crew again. And we know where the cockpit is now for future reference...

Pool excercises were great fun, good to have some static sessions.

Was a great weekend, lots of fun, vobster was as green as ever and wasnt even too cold. Even found someting new, the big ship thing between the tunnel and the sailing boat with some nice swim throughs a bit deeper.

I was surprised, how much fun it was to dive in that Vobster quarry and how motivating a well lectured pool session can be. (Out of no training, I made a personal best on the “crazy- table”).

Thanks to everyone for your support in the UK – it was very nice to see all of you again!

Sound like a lot of fun you guys had in the quarry this weekend. now, what's a "crazy-table" i dare ask?

Photos online....

Just a quick note... Photos from the lake...)

Not bad visibility there - how did it compare to chilly Chepstow?

Would have liked to have met Herbert but couldn't make it. Oh well.

A lot better vis than Chepstow but unfortunately the scubies stirred it up very quickly. I think those photos were taken first thing in the morning, by the time we got in the vis wasn't too crash hot. Still ok though.

Cheers Ben. When I said the vis wasn't bad I really meant, wow, I want to dive there, swimming by the rocks and plants. I wonder how much time there is before the waters are muddied?

Great pictures! Nice composition and colours!

I'm looking forward to the rest of the events stories and pictures:)

Love, Peace and Water,

Kars

Ah, good old English understatement, still getting used to it :D

Basically the vis was spectacular before stirred up (though not much sunlight gets through the trees, then it muddies a bit fairly quickly.

"Crazy Table". As conceived by Herbert Nitsch - and works rather well!
(As I remember it!)

1:00 exhale hold 2:00 breathe up
1:00 exhale hold 1:00 breathe up
1:00 exhale hold 0:30 breathe up
1:00 exhale hold 0:15 breathe up
1:00 exhale hold 4:00 breathe up
1:00 exhale hold - DON'T BREATHE IN!! Instead inhale the smallest sip of air you can every 15 seconds, if you get far enough then pack every 15 sec. Not breathing in at the end of a hold feels wierd at first, but you'll get used too it in no time.

I was lucky enough to be at that pool session (Thanks MIG!) - I managed around 3:30 on the last hold (1:00 exhale + 2:30 of "sips" every 15 sec) - really inspiring to see Herbert do 8:00 final hold (1:00 exhale + 7:00 of "sips" every 15 sec)!!

Hope that helps! Ady

When training you can extend the 1min hold a little...

Herbert usually uses about 2.30!!!!

Although 2min is a good passive hold.

Thanks for these informations.
One question: Passive hold = exhale hold?

Yes, a table straiting with empty lungs, refilling each 15s with 3 small packs, is also available in the Apnea Training Manager under the name of Exhale refilling apnea, and can be combined with an Exhale CO₂ table to be identical to the above exercise. I'll combine the two and add as an Session into the ATM, s that you can adjust the level and train them online if you wish.

Passive exhale as far as I know is the point at the "bottom" of your tidal volume ie. the maximum exhale point during your normal breathing cycle. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lung_volumes[/ame] - more detail!
Managed 2:13 on a passive exhale - ONCE - certainly not 6 times over as part of a table....! 2:30 repeats on a crazy table!?! Respect! Is that with the same 2:00, 1:00 etc. BU, or are those reduced too? I've just been using 1:00 full exhale holds and trying to push the last hold as far as poss. - will extending the exhale holds work better?
Trux - Apnea Training Manager is a great resource, it must have taken so much work to put it together! Very much looking forward to using it (passed on the 3rd go!) and will look out for your Exhale/refill/co2 table.
