I'm a 10 year oil field diver, work in the gulf and overseas and I'm just now getting into spear fishing.. I live in Thailand now and I'm looking for some quality gear.. From what I've seen on the net i really like riffe gear, but i've never used any of it....If anyone has top notch gear there trying to sell let me know...

First of all, welcome to DB.

I suppose there are many brands you can choose. I myself am in the midst of choosing a gun myself. I'm comtemplating between a Daryl Wong or Andre Wicaksana speargun. The Andre guns are made of teak, and are quite reasonably priced. The Wongs are cool, and from reviews are great guns, from functionality to design. I especially like his Hybrid models.

Where in Thailand do you live? Spearfishing there is kinda a grey area. For example the police do not know it is not illegal to spearfish, so will fin you if caught. However, of course, the Marine Park zones are off limits.

Thanks for the info: I to also really like the wong's hybrid guns by the looks and rep. they have but i have not tried any out....
...Yes, like u said as far as spearfhishing in thailand goes, is kinda a gray area but there is a company in Pattaya that takes ppl out on tours.. and u can find out what fish are protected in the BBK airport.. But in my experience they don't patrol there oceans much.. and on lots of the islands there arn't even cops.. and local taxi boat guys are really cheap and helpful, but don't really pay any attention to rules, so don't relay on then to keep u out of trouble... but other fishermen won't bother you if u are with a local...
