hey I'm a military dude from Florida stationed on Okinawa... love to freedive... always down to hear tips and techniques... want to take some formal courses

really amazing place to free dive your lucky and welcome to db

Hit up Apneaworks.com, Ryuzo Shinomiya runs a school here on island, I'm thinking of taking it myself. The only problem I'm having is finding some good fins. I know what I want, but I prefer to have something on my feet before I plunk down cash, (or yen) on a pair of fins. Just need to find a shop here on island with a good selection. I'm sure they're out there.

I talked to him personally, and he quoted 29000 Yen for the basic 2 day course. Sounds steep I know, but this is the way I think about it. Mr. Shinomiya is a national/international ranked professional competitor, offering his services to teach others. That, combined with being on Okinawa and paying that price, VERSUS paying for a plane ticket stateside to take a cheaper course? It starts to look a little more worthwhile. That's IF, you want the official AIDA ratings. If you are just wanting the experience and skills, look around Oki, freedivers and spearo's are everywhere, hit them up and rock and roll. I kinda want the certs though, but that's just me.
