Hi everyone, joined here to find out more about freediving, see if there are other locals on here, and maybe get a taste of spear fishing. I've always loved swimming and exploring underwater in whatever pools or swimming holes I came across as a kid. Not too long ago got my scuba license. My parents use to freedive and scuba a lot, have some knowledge from them, but by the time I was born they had already left the diving scene, so here I am trying to get into it. I would love to hear how you guys got into scuba/freediving/spearfishing.

Welcome to Deeperblue! We do have a number of Bay Area people here. Try searching "Bay Area", "San Jose", or other nearby cities in the search function, and reply to existing threads. You can also post in the USA/Canada subforum if you're looking for locals.

People here learned about freediving in many ways. For my part, I took scuba class at university, and found I preferred freediving.

I highly recommend taking a freediving class. It is the best way to learn proper technique. You'll improve faster and be safer. - The Worlds Largest Community Dedicated To Freediving, Scuba Diving and Spearfishing
