I am also new to the sight and I found that browsing through all the posts from the very experienced free divers is sometimes more usefull than asking specific questions. You can use the search feature and type in a word or phrase like "dynamic apnea" or something like that. They won't give you too much information because many of the divers instruct for a living but if you are a beginner, there is a whole "Grand Canyon" of information that can keep you busy for hours.

It's also very entertaining and interesting. I was reading a topic about Diving and surfacing efficiently and it turned into an argument about whether or not monkeys can free dive. IT WAS A RIOT!! The guys arguing where absolutely brilliant. One of the guys was and still is a champion free diver!

Have Fun! Try not to blackout!

Welcome! Soldierwillis - you found it. Keep an eye on the Wisconsin Section- also make contact with ILDiver, WreckRunner those 2 are also from ILLINOIS. When you make it back State side.

Yes, I deleted as soon as I saw "Chris". You must be a hell of a free diver.

Actually, no. I don't get enough water time. I know a lot from the two courses, I just can't put it into practice.

Cheers and welcome. So much info.... I would definitely use the search function, browse hrough the spearo forums for hunting-specific gear/techniques etc, and in the freedive sections for increasing depths/bottom times.
The best thing you could do is take advantage of any opportunity to get in the water with other freedivers/spearos. You will learn tons and meet great people.
Be careful! At work or play.

Welcome to DB from Texas trooper! Former USN here. Soldiers in the water, monkeys swimming--all seemed to go together. :friday
