Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to Dubai at the end of February with my familly (Wife and 2 young kids)
I am starting spearfishing.
Following some friends advices I have bought a Rob Allen 120 in order to practice a bit in Dubai.

I have been reading many thread about fishing in Dubai. If I have understood, it is legal but not close to the Palms ans the World and construction site.
It is also legal after 2 miles away... Not yet for me.

I will start with coast spearfishing...:D

I will be looking for any charitable guys for starting with me or showing me some "legal" fishing site, you will be very welcome.

Hope to see some of you in March.

BTW: This forum is a very very good of info.

Hello and welcome on DB Lafona one more spero is added to DUBAI list :D 120 cm will be good for blue water spearfishing if you are planning to use it for shore dives it is big...
About legality of spearfishing here and to be honest with you i have heard many different feed back from many speros, but simply avoid Abu Dahbi from shore or if you are not with boat owner who is not having good relation with coast gaurds. For DUBAI there are many speros going by boat and they do spearfishing even with Scuba, and for a captain you can contact this number 050-8464222 his name is yousef. From my point of view there is no clear law about spearfishing in UAE but all you have to do is to be careful; If you dive by boat go with local captains with good relation with coast gaurds and do not worry about the rest; For diving from shore avoid Abu Dahbi and consult with someone with knowledge about the spot that you will dive (I am saying this not to make you afraid just to be careful :D)

By the way we dive this Saturday, and while swimming we were near by wave break in Ajman area police came and they were asking my buddy what we were doing( It was friendly way of asking like did you find any fish?!!!) but no serious action was taken against us or any bad word said even we were not far from shore...

Wish you all best and have safe trip...

Thanks for your reply.

I will start with shore fishing first... and will see for the deep sea one later. I have never done it.

If 120cm is too big for the shore, I will buy a shorter RA. I will see when I arrive there.
Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the contact.

If the list of the Dubai spearfisher is long enough, we could do a meal or a meet What do you think? in order to meet the forums faces

Welcome from Texas! You are in a right friendly and helpful community over there!

Your most welcome lafona even there is no fixed List :D sometimes we arrange some trips, so we will do something...

All best

As soon as I arrive, I will try to set up something...
I will contact the moderator in order to get the list of user who are living in UAE and I will PM then.

As you know better than me Dubai I am sure that you will let me know a nice place to meet and eat...:p

I will contact you in March.

Thanks for your help
