I'm an experienced scuba diver and avid hunter so I've decided to combine the two and try some spearfishing. I'll be diving off a boat in the florida keys and the gulf. Maybe some Great Lakes stuff if its legal. Our boat is in Fort Myers. I've been reading on the forums here and think my first gun is going to be a Rob Allen, Vecta Caranx 120cm, single 20mm band, 7mm shafts. I also plan to fit it with a reel. I'll be fishing mostly reefs and maybe some wrecks. Will this be a sound set-up for a newbie?

Hi All from Clearwater Florida

I am interested in freediving but I don't know where to start. As far as experience, I've done most of my spearfishing with SCUBA in 30-50 ft .I am so amazed of the freedivers I see on you tube. It seems like a lot of training is involved.
