I have been diving and snorkling for over 30 years. When I go to the Bahamas, you can only spearfish freediving. A couple of my friends (that were raised over there) can stay down forever it seems, so I usually end up towing the zodiac while one hunts, and the other stands guard. (the grey reef sharks are a real nuisance)

I am looking to improve my breath holding so I can get more bottom time in.

Static floating, I can hold my breath as long as 3 minutes and 15 seconds (my personal best) but usually in the 2'45" range.

Where I really fail is when swimming, I drop to 1' to 1'15", so I don't get much bottom time in 50' of water.

Just looking for tips to increase my times.

Welcome! Look into an FII Freediving Course! It can help you bounds and in a safe environment and give you a good basis to learn from! They run courses not too far from you! I am out in that area and the springs training as well often so maybe you can tag along one day!

welcome again!
