Hi all!

First of all, sorry for my pathetic English.

I´m from Asturias, in the north of Spain. I'll go to study in Dublin in September, and I'm very interesting in practise spearfishing and freediving there.

I don't have idea about what kind of equipment I'll need there and I think that's would be much complicated to take my equipment from Spain in the plane.

Could you tell me what kind of equipment you use there, overalls the wetsuit (5-7 mm here) and the speargun (75-100 here)?

Thanks to all :)

bienvenido a DB! You can check out the Ireland thread here because there are some guys near Dublin. In general though a 5mm wetsuit and a 90cm gun are fine.

Ey! Spaniard!?

Is legal to catch "langostinas" there??? I'll love thatrofl
Only 5 mm!? guau... I was thinking that it would be 7 or 9 mm. Do you practise spearfishing all year long?

I'll go there in September, so I'll look for all the information and meet all the people I can before.

The Langostinas (como una gamba grande) are caught by professional fishermen using nets and creel. I feel the cold more than others but have been able to use 5mm from end of March till October; there are plenty of UK spearos who fish all year with 5mm!!! The bass don't usually arrive in 'most' of UK till April and last till end of Autumn usually. In the winter many guys will go for shellfish lke scallops and if they know where, cod.

I'm from Asturias. There's more cold here than in the Mediterranean, but I don't think I could dive in Ireland with only a 5 mm. That must be more cold, I think. In spite of, I'll look for the water temperatures there to be sure.
