I am retired, 63, living in Davao City, Mindanao. I have just started freediving. I also bicycle, scuba, and build small boats (starting on my second, with a third in the wings). This is a good place to be diving.

Hello davaodan, welcome to DB! I too ride bikes, but has since stopped because I cannot afford to maintain my MTB. I scuba too; how's the diving over there?

Diving here near Davao is very good. Visibility excellent and many dive locations. Inexpensive too. The water is always warm, winter and summer. I seldom dive with any neoprene. I will be scuba diving soon off my seaside lot on Samal Island. Several dive shops offer transportation and equipment. A typical dive day with my wife tagging along cost less than $20USD. I am currently looking to buy some tanks, then I will be completely outfitted.

How are diving conditions in Singapore? Bicycle maintenance is very reasonable here but you say your MTB upkeep is too expensive, I don't understand that. Even my hospital bill from my last right-of-way dispute with some goats was reasonable. Still suffering though.:crutch

Yea well, I have since stopped biking. Probably no time for it anyway.

Diving here is not so good. Vis is horrible, but if you know the area, you can still find some pockets of nice reefs. Scuba here is possible, but I for one would think twice about freediving here.

Hello Davaodan and welcome to DB. Where are you from originally? I have a good friend heading to Batanos on the main Island where he bought two hectors recently. He’s going to be there until the end of March so if you would like some diving company just shoot him an email. Ken@mylifeexposed.com

Good luck
Nathan
