Hello fffei, welcome to the forum!
Have you been at the blue hole near Caye Caulker, too? I wanted to go there for some scuba (wow-just remember that was about 10 years ago). But couldn't afford the $300... Hope you had fun over there. Lots of rays and leopardsharks, eh?
Cheers, Klaus

Cheers and welcome. Any problems getting your gun into Mexico or legalities with hunting there?

I went to Belize not Mexico.I put the guns in a rod tube in case there was an issue (it looks like your only carrying fishing gear) and being an old white guy they have always left me and my bags alone. As far as I know there are no real legal issues involved since you can buy spearguns at the local hardware store, but i have been hasseled in past years while driving in from mexico.

I have been to the bluehole, many years ago and in fact we went there from Caye Caulker and spent time on and around Half Moon Caye and Lighthouse reef .There are lots of rays mostly bat and eagle rays that even come upon the shore when we clean fish.As far as sharks go we see alot of nurse and lemons and blacktips and the occasional bull shark just after you've shot something.

I did some SCUBA at Banco Chinchorro and a few sights near the north corner of Belize (out of Xcalak mexico), back before I discovered my snorkel. Beautiful place. Any current where you were hunting, or are there spots in the lee of islands to relax and shoot?

Ahhhh good old xcalak...I've gone into Belize this way a few times kind've pricey but a nice way to arrive. There can be current at times it's like a river, when this happens we go with it and hunt and use a top man in a boat or drag a kayak.Otherwise we just go around the corner and out over the wall and it hardly moves except for the surge generated by the waves.

Hey Erik, Where did launch from shore to motor out to Chinchorro Atoll? My Wife's family is from Majahual/Chetumal area.

It was about 13 years ago- we were staying at a small resort with palapas run by a guy from Florida, his wife and son, about 1km from Xcalak.

Dear fffej50,
I think I left my bands in my other dive bag! Sorry, did you do any Atoll diving?
Those Rob Allen guns can be vicious until the reel gets dialed in. I nearly took my hand off due to I know not what - probably the line snagged me!
I met some amazing people on one of the Cayes...
I'll fill you in if you're interested...
Argo ..

Hi craig, you prankster... I lost your email address and wanted the name of the book you reccomended about the northern frontier of kenya. My hand is almost normal thank you.Bring more scotch next time. jb*

Yes FFFej/50,
You need a better Avatar! I will bring more scotch to that forsaken Caye! But!! I believe that we need to establish a Monestery on that Caye.
On another note: I am really looking for a really cheesy stock print of your encounter with the jewfish!
fffej/50 - thanks for making my stay on the Caye a memorable experience. Your incredibly seductive and may I say intellectually superior wife made my visit even better. If you promise to bring her along next time, I might reveal my Kenya book source.
Dear jeffe,
I am so glad to have a way to talk to you. As with so many Spearos, we are a unique brotherhood of those who see things a little differently. Not certifiable, but definitely risking a little to take care of each other!
Thanks to both of you!
Your friend,
The Dane!!

Dear Jefe!,
I was surprised to find that you've traveled to Timbuctu! Hope to hear from you when you arrive! I know that your caravan thrives on castings, so I assume that you're busy schmoozing with the anti-intelligentsia!
Regards,
Argo (Craig)
