Hiya from snowy Alps

Just back from my third visit to Dahab where I chilled into freediving this past April. Something that I loved to do as a kid

I trained distance and alternate swimming all summer in my local 50m outdoor pool and in nearby Lake Gruyère, then did 2* with Patrick Bouillon in September. This time I progressed well each day under the fine supervision of Brian Crossland. Between trips I've been in good hands training with Immersion Profonde in Lausanne.

So now after reaching -30.8m on December 27th 2009 I feel it's OK to stop lurking and begin to write threadfuls of shite. Sorry to sound crude. I'll try to make sure that it's "classily written shite" (a friend's description of my wordiness).

Most important for last: female, 45, British musician and teacher originally from Manchester, based in French-speaking alpine region of Switzerland.

Up here in the Alps no need for phones, thankfully... We jodel merrily from the mountain tops, the joyous sound echoing through the valleys...:mute

Reminds me of a scene from Little Britain:

Yes, I do have a phone (two in fact). But no husband (any longer, .. if that answers your question..?)

And poor attempt at humor on my part! Just had our 25th anniversary (yes she's let me live this long) and we freedove a reef at Cozumel as we were on a cruise. Lots of fish--even two juvenile Ocean Sunfish! Well out to bring in the plants--it might freeze tonight.

And I ride off into the sunset.

Hi Alixir, welcome to DB. Sounds like you're pretty accomplished freediving already!

You mentioned that you're a musician - what instruments do you play?

Where do you train during the winter? presumably pool training laps? must admit it would be good to find somewhere for an alpine holiday to do some swimming while the family goes skiing (i cant ski!).

Hi Johnny and Thanks! Really I'm just a beginner, didn't know about freediving sportiness a year ago, nor that I'd become so obsessed

More of an accomplished musician, I think would be a fair statement. Singer, piano, guitar... Name that tune... I perform regularly. Last weekend I was a singer and it'd been a while without instrument. Never know what to do with my hands... Irish villain also taped up my tambourine, but he's let off because we sang three part and now we all know for sure that we were born to harmonize.:thankyouLove it.

Plenty of opportunities if you're close to Lausanne. Four training sessions every week of school year. As it's snowing, I won't be driving down there tonight - Lausanne is an hour's drive from my Alp.

Hi guys - Yes, you're both right in fact... As goes the old saying:

You can take a girl away from Manchester but you can never take Manchester (MADchester) away from a girl...

When I left home at 18 I went to the 'Pool where I lived for five years during my student years. There I came to know the ways of the world i.e. boys, beer and pubs (not necessarily in that order, and often to the tune of the famous Scouse anthem "Cry me a liver"... preferably in G minor)
