Weather looks nice for you guys to travel in.
PS The captains table meal in Herm requires smart casual dress code, ie no shorts.

And so....on the very day the mighty PODGE sets foot on this lil' Isle:
the wind is deflated;the swell is abated; the sewage leak is negated!
Welcome mates!

... and the fish have all gone on holiday! Well, apart from these 2 - I hasten to add, not caught by me but by OMD and Foxfish. We didn't think to take any pics out there, but this is the first catch in the Holiday Guernsey 2008 expedition. I went out too, along with Jonny 250, Podge and ( no longer!)StuckinSurrey, to a sheltered western spot. As for me, I missed a decent mullet, and just saw a flash of an enormous bass tail and several other silvery flashes in the shallow weed. Vis not great, but better than expected.

The English lightweights are taking a nap before the evening's festivities in Herm!:t Well I suppose they have been up for over 12 hours!

And in honor of Spaniard I decided to use his gun that he keeps in Guernsey (probably the first fish it has ever caught )
Seems like we eventually managed to get the lobsters required for Sunday & one is a real buster at 6.5lb.

You were looking for one lobster each Mart. Who'll get that one?

Conditions not quite so good today! Waiting to hear from our visitors, who've braved the elements anyway. There may be nothing to do except eat and drink ...

... and sure enough, the brave visitors saw the odd bass but not surprisingly, drew a blank in these conditions, so consoled themselves with the now traditional evening of paella, wine and Rocquette cider at ours, followed by a sneak preview sloe gin tasting! ( Sorry Spaniard!)

More braving the elements tomorrow, followed by the epic gourmet epicurean Foxfest and general drinking and roasting of nuts around the fire!

Watch this space ...:friday:friday

Looks like a blast! Glad the Uk boys keeping up the tradition of catching bugger all but eating and drinking for England!! :friday Poor me sat at home waiting for the waters to break with nothing to console me other than the olympics and some cooking sherry I found under the sink.....

Missing you already Juan! The bottle count was 6 wine, 4 rocquette cider, 1/3 sloe gin and a few beers. :fridayA little bit of training for tonight! The wind has dropped ( apart from in certain Guernsey hotel rooms!) but will the vis have improved today?

Have just seen Podge & co heading for the sharp place, but it's blowing right in, so they may go back to Foxy's spot again as it may be more sheltered. Port Grat looked fishable, but the surfers were out at Portinfer ( not Ed!)

Well I am destined for a hangover but we feel contented that the lobster fest was a success - with a twist of fate!?
Podge won the raffle, the prize a 6.5lb lobster!! He ate the lot!! (& Jonny ate all the rocquefort)
