Nice one Mart, I’ll have a word with the boys and see what’s what.

I'm off on safari from 4th to 23rd Aug. been planning it for a while and have booked up. Last week in July or last week in August suits me best.

This year We are due some fish.

Dave.

Have i missed something but i thought we were going to Cornwall in 2010:D

Sounds good! whereabouts?
i spent a summer climbing on the cliffs all along the N cornwall & N Devon Coast - happy days :)

Thats OK.

Have you still got the details of that rental place you said about down near the Lizard?

Is the guy still up for a cash deal between us?

I’ve got his number at home, I’ll text it to you tonight.

I haven't got a tide table in front of me at the mo - what are the tides & what date is that bank holiday?

Where you going on Safari OMD?

I used to take people on safari myself in Tanzania: Serengeti, ngorongoro crater, etc - great experience, you'll love it. Are you staying in lodges or under canvass?

Gaz, after a lot of thought and planning I decided to "do" South Africa. I am planning some sight seeing, city visits, whale watching, penguin viewing, seeing the Zulu war sites, but mainly going on safari in Kruger and probably visiting a couple of other smaller parks. Staying at a lodge and doing day/night small party guided trips. August is supposed to be a good time (also suits the whales). Going to be coaching and internal flying, some of which is an organised tour.

Looking forward to it.

Dave.

Dave,

Not been down to Kruger myself (mainly East and West Africa), but Africa generally is a wonderful place to visit, especially if you can manage to 'engage' with it. It's great to see all the big cats, etc, and giraffes are truly bizarre when you first clap eyes on them in the wild (vaguely pre-historic in their size and movements), but elephants are where it's at - nobody ever gets tired of watching elephants!

Sounds as though you have a full and varied trip organised there - I'm sure you are going to have a great time.

mate, still waiting for jim to get back to me with what he fancies this year?

Been yearning for Blighty and especially Cornwall and Guernsey - places with swimmable seas during the UK summer. Cold is ok if I'm on skis like this afternoon :). There are family plans for Cornwall in July so both places would be workable for me :) Would I be the only girl  ?? I'm also not sure about the idea of spearing fish. I would if I was hungry, but maybe I should just go shopping instead?

Alixir, you’ll have a great time at either Cornwall or Guernsey.
It’s looking like we’ll be in Cornwall some time in early July so if you’re around you’d be more than welcome to come along for a swim.:)
I’ll send you a PM of the dates if you’re interested?

Thanks Podge! I'm rekindling my earliest memories of family hols in Cornwall: I remember being in the waves about age seven, being dragged up by the force of the water and then hitting the bottom in the shallows with a great slap. No damage, just winded and water up my nose etc.. Funny really, I've never been homesick before, not for at least 20 years...

yer, shopping in either Cornwall or Guernsey... lol :)

seriously tho, i'm pretty sure most spearos have days when they just dont feel inclined to shoot the fish - well i do anyway. take a camera and with your apnea skills you'll be getting some fantastic shots anyway :)

Mart is there going to be a Guernsey fish-in this year? i have been tempted to join the Dorsit/Kernow crew in Kernow, but its just as easy to get the ferry to France, and i know which will be warmer, well i think i do...

I guess that judging by the lack of response to Loops' question about a Gy/Jy get together that people just aren't that interested? or maybe its too early in the season yet.

Jonny, it doesn't look like there is much interest!
Birchy, Spaniard & maybe some of the Jersey guys but not one confirmation.

Oh wow that sounds so great. I did some photography a while back, really haven't thought much about doing it underwater. It would be interesting to get some "spearo-in-action" shots.
