Holidays that aren't just about going deep?

I've been 'freediving' for about 20 years, but what I call freediving is basically diving without all the scuba gear. Ie. I like to take in the view unencumbered by all the equipment rather than trying to go as deep as I can. In my experience the coral and fish life is best at less than 20m, actually probably less than 10m.

With that in mind, can anyone recommend holidays I could take with like minded individuals that aren't scuba diving or freediving really deep, but going a lot deeper than your average snorkeller?

Basically I want to dive up to 20m to take in the views with people that have my back if necessary.... Any ideas?

Hi - sorry I'm not meaning where should I go on holiday, I mean can anyone recommend any organised holidays?

I can find plenty of holidays specialising in scuba diving or learning how to freedive deeply, but struggling to find any that are somewhere between the two. The ideal for me would be something that offers what the scuba diving holidays offer, but for keen snorkellers / fin swimmers.

Not sure what you mean by "holidays" There are a growing number of live aboard charters that specialize in freediving, FII runs at least one trip a year, dolphin diving is big out of Bimini, Bahamas, Farrel has one profiled on DB from a week or two ago.

I'm with you, a reef crawler, but, in my area, freedivers who are comfortable in 10-20 m or more are nearly all spearos. I do my own trips(my boat), but finding like minded divers with sufficient skill is a problem.

Not sure what you mean by "holidays"

I just mean as a minimum where I can pay to do something like a live aboard for a week and do some 'reef crawling', as you call it (I really like that as a description) or a half board hotel with connections.

Seems like it doesn't really exist - oh well.

You can rent a sailboat in the med. William Winram has done organised excursions with small groups on a sailboat, together with Fred Buyle.

But if there isn't what you like, start a new business! - oh euh then it's no longer a vacation...

dolphin expeditions!!!!!! liveaboard out of bimini spend a week freediving with the coolest dolphins ever, no scuba the whole crew freedives very well max depth is about 30 feet cant say enough good things about them.

should mention to its centered around the dolphins but the main boat also takes u to reefs and wrecks while the zodiac is out scouting for dolphins, the food is amazing too its they also have a staff photographer filming everything if u don't wanna bother with ur own camera
