Home made float

Wow that's a simple but very useful suggestion!

Guess what I found at my local dump?

A Paddleski !!!!! a "mackski black widow" to be precise! I am so stoked to start pimping it out. I want to cut some holes it to make compartments, make boxes out of wood to fit in the holes and then fibreglass them in. Anyone done anything like this before? Any advise. Will this effect the ski's boyancy?

That looks like a Thule luggage cargo box upside down.

Ref the surfski idea, just to add that you do get 'longboard' surfski's too, i have a medium length surfski which is too short by far for spearo use, but a longer version would be superb for spearing. The biggest advantage over sit on kayaks is the weight - my custom ski is only 7 or 8 Kg, so a longboard version would probably be 12kg - a massive advantage over a SOT. Other options like the windsurfer idea could include a SUP (Stand Up Paddle) board?

I'm just in the process bodging a bodyboard (£15 2h) as this will suit my use when not diving from the SOT kayak... Main problem with the bodyboard idea must surely be the lack of visibility, compared to an inflatable float...
