I just bought Cressi-sub comanche 90 cm. I want to have shaft spare in case my shaft broken. I have asked the dealer but they said that they don't sale shaft nor flopper. I'm planning to make my own shaft but the hardest part is that I can't get any flopper anywhere in my country. Is anyone have ever make his/her own flopper? thanks

I've done more than one.. . . this picture is of my first.

But these days I've gotten lazy and I ordered a pack of them from Ray Odor.

I don't know if he ships to Indonesia but, It's worth an ask. He's one of the four nicest people on the planet and if he can help you out he will.

Thank you. Can you tell me how you make your homemade flopper?
I hope I don’t have to order flopper overseas because I only need one or two flopper.

You could put a thread on the spear tip & then buy a screw on spear tip with flopper?

First I scrounged a bit of thin scrap stainless. Then I found a piece of scrap flat stock approximately the same thickness as the spear diameter and ground a rouned edge on one side. I then took a chunk of hardwood (scrap of course) and cut a slot in it the width of the flat stock plus twice the thickness of the stainless. I clamped the wood snugly in my vice to support the sides laid the stainless along the slot placed the flat stock on the stainless over the slot and then hit it repeatedly with a real big hammer. :blackeye .. . . Once finished you should have a U shaped thin piece of stainless (and a bloody knuckle or two) Drape the U over the spear to be and drill the pivot hole. then draw out a flopper on the u and cut it out carefully. Hopefully you have a dremel or some such thing.

Good Luck

I think I will give it a try. Do I have to heat the thin stainless to make It easier to shape. I have 1 mm stainless but It's a bit stiff.

I think It's hard to find one here. But I'm planning to search in Seapearl dive center in Jakarta. It's official Riffe dealer in Indonesia.

Heating won't help.. . it will cool befor you get it to the mandrel. A helper to hold the swage with some long pliers is real helpful. Plus then you won't be the only one bleeding.

I have asked Seapearl dive (Riffe dealer), they said that they have flopper but for 7 mm shaft. The owner said that It's too big for my gun. I'm going to ask Seamoth dive(Omer dealer) If they have shaft suitable for my Cressi Comanche before I have to make my own shaft.
