I came across some alginate which Terry Maas refers to in his spearfishing book for making custom masks. I couldn't help myself and decided to give it a try. His chapter is a little light on the details. I can ascertain that the alginate makes a negative mold and then plaster of paris is used for the positive.

After that whats the best way to go? Is hard plastic better b/c it allows for hands free clearing of the ears and equalization as Terry says or do people go with soft plastic for comfort/fit. Do I build the surface up w/ modeling clay? I saw the fiberglass mask in this forum, but field of vision is important, lest I loose sight of those tasty fishies.

If any one knows any interent links or has advive please help.

Thanks,
Chris

edit: if the lenses aren't perfectly perpendicular will I experience distortion between the two eyes? I'm using falco glass plates (I warned it to stop leaking:naughty )
