I wanted to make a target for getting my aim right. So, I found some foam by the side of the road, rolled it up, and added an anatomically correct drawing of my target species. I tied a weight with about 2' of string below it and floated it off the bottom.

The visibility was shocking today at Blackrock, but I had to try out my new target. First shot went straight through the eye. The gun is accurate up to about 3 meters (single loop of mono), and the target worked great.

Nice target idea! Another way, which I still want to test, is to take a plastic bag, preferably with a round logo on, tie a weight onto the two ends, put some air in and then you'll have a nice target. Your's is excellent too, I think I'd prefer yours over the one just stated. Happy hunting, Cheers. Mozzie. P.S. Shot any fish yet?

Hey Moz, funny enough, I actually thought of that idea first. Then I thought that as soon as I shot it it would deflate. I was a little worried that the foam would be too light and the spear would push it around, instead of penetrative. Once the foam took on some water it was solid, still floated, and the spear flew straight through.

Yeah, I got a few over the holidays, wrasse, red morwong, and flathead. There is a picture of a couple of the mowies in a thread titles "Ulladulla Red Morwongs".
