I've been thinking of getting one of those compressor hookah rigs. Don't get me wrong free diving is my forte, but no one else seems to be interested so it seems like a good way to incorporate my friends, family, exc.
my question though is what is the best move to make: the brownie that splits into three regulators or is there other more price friendly brands.
oh and I've heard some real horror stories of them just shutting off mid dive. can any body enlighten me on that being myth or common event.
Thanks, Sean

Hi Sean,

Can't help you on the Brownie, but check your PMs.

Connor

I own one of the brownie units. I havn't used it yet (it was given to me a few months ago) but i know how it works. as for it shutting off mid-dive you have a small tank of compressed air that you can attach your regulator to to have air to get to the top. and you shouldn't have to use the extra air if you calibrate the engine and time how long your fuel will last.

yeah, that's correct. from my understanding of the unit it has an inner tube on which the compressor/fuel tanks sits with hoses trailing down to the divers. it sounded like just about the best way to spearfish to me... add a little chum to the mix and you've got dinner!

If you are trying to interest your friends, there is a new product that may help, check it out at toteandfloatdiving.com it also is a lot less expensive than a hookah rig. Good luck!
