Are there any Houston-area freedivers?
Im looking for a buddy to train and dive with. Im fairly new to freediving, and would be great to have someone to help me out and encourage me.

Thanks,
TB84

[edit] Oh yeah, SeaSpace is this weekend. For those of you who dont know, Its a 'adventure sports and travel' convention. Its mostly geared towards bubble blowers, but there might be some freediverrs there... Hopefully a freediving instruction group....

Well, went to Seaspace. It was definately geared towards scuba people. I only heard one person mention freediving. It was when I asked about a low volume mask. But all in all it was pretty fun. And, I won a free membership to the Houston Underwater Club :)

I also found out about a scuba park about 20 minutes south of Houston. Ill have to check it out. Its 50' deep, and even has a bus on the botom of it!

I have the same problem here, I only know of one other freediver in the Dallas area. The only reason I meet him was that I went to his scuba shop to order some long fins.

Its not that close to you,but might try to contact this guy at Blue Water Divers. He is supposed to run a freedive clinic out of Athens, TX. It's a flooded rock quarry thats only 32' deep. They apparently run 100' simulations with lines strung diagonally.

Where at in Houston do you live? I used to live in Clear Lake, then got stationed in Illinois, then Florida, and now in California.
