Hey, i've recently gotten into freediving and i need some helpful tips on holding my breath longer under water. Right know i can hold my breath for about 1:15 static or without moving, but when i begin to swim it dwindles.

I would realy appreciate the help...

search this forum for...

static tables both O2 and CO2
apnea walking etc..
and dive reflex.

Thats what took me from under a minute to 3:25 in just 3 months.

Still way off the big guns on this forum but am getting there.

If you have freediving courses around you, I highly recommend them. There's a lot of factors that go into it. The reflex is a huge thing but so is proper breathing before you start your holds, and if you are holding underwater, the most important thing is safety.

I took F.I.I.'s level I a little while back and I am currently taking their level2 and I have seen plenty of people in either of those two who come in being able to only hold their breath for a minute and by the second day they are pulling at least 3 minutes or more.

On missing that, I would make sure that if you DO any kind of static in a pool, make sure that you have someone that is properly trained watching you. I have seen how a samba during a breath hold could get someone into serious trouble if there isn't someone there to help you, and it can and does happen.

The safety is not just being about careful...but it also affects your times! When you know there's someone there to help you in case you get into trouble, you are more relaxed and thus you can get better results.
