VERY new to freediving. I have been diving some with a friend and i can't go very deep. I can only hold at most for 1:30 maybe 1:45 in a dry static and 2 min in water.

the simplest answer is dive allot and hold ur breath allot also do it on a relatively empty stomach as digestion hogs up to much blood and will make ur holds shorter. if u wanna geek out on it and get all technical look up o2 and co2 tolerance tables there are even phone apps for it and apnea running and what not. that said u can just keep it simple hold ur breath a bunch the important part is the end when it gets uncomfortable and u start getting contractions how u deal with that mentally is how u progress forward some of my friends that surf practice there breath holds by holding there breath thru tv commercials while watching tv and it seems to work just fine, but ultimately nothing beats time in the water because u have to be able to apply that breath hold while making an energy efficient entry, equalizing, relaxed finning, etc.
