How deep is your Track

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

I've been trying to determine if the depth of a wooden Speargun track has any positive/negative effect on the spear accuracy.
I'm not talking about the enclosed track in this thread.

In some wooden guns, the tracks (rail) is very shallow; just covering about 1/4 of the spear….in other wooden guns, the rail covers almost 3/4 spear.
Does this make any difference …..the spear becoming more accurate since it is more or less "guided" by the deep track more than a spear in a shallow track.

i made my gun and the track covers the entire shaft
correct me if I'm wrong but the partially enclosed shafts prevent shafts from bending as they are fired
 
G'day ihab.
Depth of track depends on type of spear.
Notched spear you need a shallow track for the bridles to sit correctly when the gun is loaded.
Tabbed spear you can have a deeper track as the bridles sit on top of the shaft when the gun is loaded.

I'm not trying to fit a spear in to a track, rather determine if the deeper track has any advantage over the shallow track.
So far, the feedback has been, the deeper thye better
