I bought a brand new omer hf2, but the safety catch is really really hard, have to use 2 hands to make it work, is there a site/ video of dissassemble the omer trigger mechanism? id like to see what is causing the problem. Is it complicated? and will i break/make it not work :) Cheers.

Hi 3v, I have an HF2 and just took a look at it, the handle & mech should come apart by nocking out the pins if you really want to do that, but generally people dont use the safety catch at all anyway. My suggestion would be to get it into the 'fire' position and just leave it there, assuming it all fires ok?
I have taken my beauchat trigger apart and reassembled it ok, but havent tried the hf2.
On the other hand it must be a bit worrying not knowing why it is so stiff. Nothing worse than pulling the trigger and the spear not moving! can you return it to the shop?

Ditto on the leaving a safety catch on. Generally we consider safety catches unsafe -- "loose bands" being the only really safe mode.

As the speargun is new, consider returning it to retailer. Failing that, if you have used the gun in salt water, and are unfortunate enough to have the catch lock in "safe"-mode, perhaps dried salt is clogging things up? If so, you could try to dissolve it and loosen things up with warm water.

If the catch is in fire-mode, I'd suggest that you just leave it there for ever more. They appear to be primarily intended for sales/marketing. Functionally spearguns would be simpler and better off without them, IMHO.

Caveat emptor. Your mileage may vary...

Cheers guys,
Its an omer hf2 85cm, brand new hasn't been in the water yet, bought it in Spain 1 yr ago, (im from sydney) I thought by switching the safety catch on/ off alot will worn out the new plastic n it helps, but it didnt' work, it would cost too much for postage and would be too long for them to accept refund/fix. I bought this for my little brother and want to introduce him into spear fishing, so i'd like it to have the safety switch on for him. I guess from the rob allen trigger mech that mr.X sent to my last post, i will try n take it off n see what the problem is. 3Vu
