hi, im new to spear fishing and i just bought a gun which is a cressi-sun sioux 75cm shaft with rubber slings.

it came with a line but how do i wrap it up it does't have anywhere for the line to go round?

ive seen it normally where it wraps round two little hooks from the front of the gun to near the trigger but mine does not have this? do i need to buy a reel? or is there some way of doing this?

thanx

Hiya

I started off with a Cressi-sub 90cm Apache. Good guns!!

Unfortunately, the cressi sioux, like my Apache, doesn't have the normal type of line release. You have three crocodile type clips that simply hold your line in place. One is at the bottom of the barrel, whilst the other two are located on either sides of the grip. I'd use the bottom one to hold the shooting line. The side mounted ones can also be used, but i'd opt for using them only if i use a reel. The bottom one is much larger than the side ones as well!!

thanx for your help its nuch appreciated. i kinda figured it out last night but i wasn't sure if that was actually right, so thankyou.

wpuld it be worth gettin a reel or is it okay without?

Hiya

Getting a reel depends on the area you're hunting as well as the type of fish you're hunting. For some-one starting out in this great sport, i'd advise a floatline. Much safer, as its not that easy to lose your gun.

Hope that helps!!

Thanks Miles, I saw similar clips on a Cressi Commanche (which does have a normal line release too) and wondered what they were for. I guessed alternative line clips - but couldn't understand why. I guess they are for folk who are used to using them on other Cressi models. I have a terrible habit of snapping off plastic clips though - so the Soiux & Apache are probably not for me!

I notice the above picture shows a slot where the line release tooth would go if there was one.
