urge to breath
>I get a realy huge urge to breath before then. How do you guys get past that urge?
Welcome Kevin
You've already identified your next few steps, I think. It's called CO2 tolerance. That's the trigger for your breathing control system. When you learn to control the urge, the times improve and safety becomes much more important. Practice is the only way.
You will learn faster if you try many times instead of once per session. Smarter people than I have picked the number eight.
Let's use your routine with some changes. On the bed or in a lounge chair, take 5 minutes to relax and get comfortable. Take ten of your deep breaths and hold for one minute. Without a pause, take nine breaths and hold for one minute, then eight, seven and down to three. If you can't finish, reduce the one minute. If it's too easy then increase it. After a few times of doing this once per day, try one set of eight, two minutes rest, three minutes breathing and hold until uncomfortable. Let me know how that feels.
One of the best ways to get into contractions is partials. I know that two of the best are using them. Five minutes to relax. two or three minute breath-up and let most of the air out during the first fifteen seconds of the hold. The exhale will help you relax deeper and everything will happen faster.
Be safe, have fun and experiment.
Best wishes
Bill
