I just bought 6 mm farmer john suit I weigh aprox 205 for fresh water aprox how much wt do i need for my weight belt thankyou cigarlung also only have short fins will be a big problem thanks again ,cigarlung

Dude are you wearing a jacket over the farmer john? Lots of variables here, including the depth you want to be diving at/material used/lung capacity etc etc and where you want to be neutral. Are you muscular, obese?
In any case, I'd say that if you want to dive to about 40' and float at that depth, start with about12lbs then work from there. Bring some clip-on weights on a float or just extra weights and be prepared to take the belt apart to fine-tune.
The basic goal is that you can float up from about 15' or so.
As I said there are many variables including wht your goals are, but 12-14 lbs is a good start.

Thanks im using a farmer john not too fat maybe a little bit in the butt. Im about 6' 1". Will do a little bit of breath diving and spearfishing this weekend. Im bringing short fins. Do you think that is much of a factor?
Thanks.

Rob,

Are you coming up to Wazee?

If you are I'll help you fine tune it- and let you try out some freediving wetsuits so you can see the difference.

I normally weight to be neutral @33' if freediving and @15' for spearfishing. I use more weight for scuba- so I can pull off my deco @10' stop without a problem.
