After reading Peter Scott's excellent article "Freediving show partII" I was very interested in one thing that Peter mentioned as an important skill.

What methods do different divers use to avoid catching colds or getting sick in foreign countrys etc.??

Garlic, vitamin C and selen is things I have heard shall be good against colds but I catch a cold 1-2 times a year (for 7-10 days) and maybe it's impossible to fight it?

avoid sickness...

Bring your own food with you, if you travel to a place where the culinary habits are (bit) unhygienic and the stuff that they put on your plate doesn't remind you of anything you would expect to eat.... that would be one.. I have experienced this.. fortunately I got sick on my way back...
and if you are from UK, just eat couple of plate fulls of Haggis and you'll don't need to worry about getting sick eating practically anything... that is of course if you make it through the haggis..

I am cooking one tonight, anyone wan't to join for a meal?

what is "Haggis" anyway?
Heres a recipe..:yack
1 sheep's pluck (stomach bag)
2 lb.. dry oatmeal
1 lb. suet
1 lb. lamb's liver
2 1/2 cups stock
1 large chopped onion
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, Jamaica pepper and salt
Boil liver and parboil the onion, then mince them together. Lightly brown the oatmeal. Mix all ingredients together. Fill the sheep's pluck with the mixture pressing it down to remove all the air, and sew up securely. Prick the haggis in several places so that it does not burst. Place haggis in boiling water and boil slowly for 4-5 hours. Serves approximately 12.

If that tastes as good as it sounds...:duh

Anyway, back to the topic at hand..
I find a meal containing chilli really clears out my sinuses. Anyone else try this before a dive?
