Hello to everyone. I am trying to build my first speargun and i really don't know how to coat the stock after I am finished shaping it. Could someone help?

Thank you foxfish for your suggestion. To tell you the truth I have been looking in the forum the past few months on this topic but the problem is that through all this posts I can't find a good description. Can I use teak oil? Will it be adequate?

teak oil is good to use. epoxy is tricky as heck. try this : mix teak oil 50% with acetone. brush it on generously, wait a half hour repeat. then after about another half hour, wipe off excess, allow to sit overnight, then sand with 220 grit paper. then coat with pure teak oil, then sand while the oil is wet ,(you must use wet /dry paper), then gently wipe off excess. allow to dry overnight. then do it over and over / once a day, till you get sick of it , or until gun looks good.(whichever come first) you can use finer paper progressively. i start with 220 then go to 320 , then to 400 grit,(its not necessary to go any finer than that) dont forget the trigger slots and band slots .

Wow. Jtkwest. Thank you so much. This is precisely what I was looking for. I can't thank you enough.

no worries. where is nicosia? sounds exotic. (its probably down the road, knowing my horrible sense of the globe.) lol good luck

Well Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus. A beautiful Mediterranean island known for it's ancient civilization, the kindness of its people, the wonderful beaches, good food and long tradition to fishing/spearfishing.

The main language is Greek since that the island is Greek since 2000 years before the birth of Christ. Unfortunately Nicosia is also the last divided capital of the world since the turkish invasion in 1974 to our beautiful Greekcypriot island.

a good guy to ask might be SpeerO. He makes all his own custom guns :)

Sand your gun to 150 grit, heat it with a heat gun when warm-hot apply undiluted teak oil with a soaked rag, let it set, when finish is tacky hit it again with heat gun, and wipe clean. polish with steel wool, clean with mineral spirits, heat gun it again, apply another coat of teak oil, when the stock is no longer warm wipe off excess-finito

btw I read another suggestion here to add laquer thinner DO NOT do this as it will render some of the essential oils in the teak oil mix useless, use mineral spirits.
