Go diving, and force a clear. Lol, I promised some guys I would take them out this weekend, and I had a little bit of an ear ache, but thought I just slept on it funny or something. I could still clear (kinda) so I figured nothing was wrong. Then I pushed it to 30 ft, and couldnt clear, so I grabbed my nose, and blew as hard as I could. Got the clear, but for the next day and a half my ear was bleeding. Doc put me on anti-biotics, and says I can dive again this weekend! :blackeye

do you normally do 'hands-free' or something? if you equalize more often - it'll be easier. You might of fractured your eardrum. Just take it easy- don't push it too hard.

Just for my information, was the blood on the outside or inside. I did something similar last year.

My ear continued to bleed today, and the bleeding starts internal and then ends up crusted on the outside, and my ear backs up with blood, and then it repeats. Its not all blood, there is some puss or other nasty fluid, sorry for the details guys. I usually do a handsfree clear. So I really forced this bad boy. With todays bleeding they upped my medication, and my Florida internship is on the line. If in two weeks my ear is still no good, no flying, no diving, no internship. :head

Did you perforate the eardrum? Be careful. I don't mean to be a downer, but make sure it's not a small perforation or tear that might be hard to see with the infection! You don't wan to lose hearing in that ear.

Consider looking into D.A.N. They would have covered something like this and you can call them to ask about anything diving/medical related issues.

Good luck and take good care of the ear.

:yack Eeeew! Bet it feels real nice & hot too! :t I hate ear infections! :head

Whatever you do...You don't want lake water and fish blood in an infected ear! And don't even consider Lake Michigan with a "bleeding" ear infection! The bacteria levels are super high in Lake Michigan - Especially near shore - Don't let the clear water fool you! :naughty Darn Milwaukee Metro Sewerage District! Always dumpin' raw poo by the millions of gallons into the lake - right at the mouth of the "Milwaukee" river!!! :rcard

Just make sure you're healed up before you dive again...Or you could wind up being outta "the game" for a month or more!

And hey...YOU DO want to be in Florida right?! Maybe doing a little spearin' after a hard day's interning! Easy decision...Stay out da wata 'til ya ear be all healed up!

Fleshy, how is the ear? Is the infection only in the outer ear or is it into the middle ear too?

Hey guys, looks like Ill be "chartering" for awhile now. I actually saw the ear doctor yesterday. He upped my anti-biotics, gave me drops, and drained some of the blood. I went in for ibuprofen the other day in the nurses office at school, and I guess my ear was bleeding a ton because I walked up to the desk and the student who was working there was like "Uhhh... just one second!" and ran off to get the nurse. Nurse made her clean out my ear, and it took like 5 minutes. Luckily shes kinda cute, and she said "Oh Forrest... you're so manly." No idea if its outer or inner ear, doctor didn't tell me he was running behind. All he really said was, next time you dive, take it REAL easy. Well my mom called and he said four to six weeks. My internship is in three... Who knows we just have to be hopeful. I felt a lot better this morning, so I think the new meds are working. Thanks guys.

P.S. I got some of my friends to try out the new Rob Allen today!! Pictures Posted in "2008, Spearing/Garbage Collection"
